BETTING THE LONG SHOT

When betting, sometimes it is really fun to wager on the underdog. When you win, the payout can be huge but it is important not to fall into the trap of getting lured into the wager based on the odds. Chances are, your underdog is not going to win otherwise the odds would not be poor. With that said, it is not impossible to make picks on underdogs that can be profitable but doing so must be approached with some degree of caution. Because of the high payout associated with being the long shot, it is extremely important to reduce the size of your wager significantly. Because the odds of winning the wager are much lower, wagering the amount that you would place on an outcome with better odds will more than likely take a hacksaw to your bankroll. Using the long odds, you should reduce your downside by scaling down the size of your bet while still keeping a large upside.
